While the usual date for Utrecht ducats from this wreck was 1724, a handful of earlier dates were reported, including 47 of the date 1717 (see page 48 of Bjørn Rønning’s 1979 book Akerendam: The Story of the Runde Treasure) like this present lot in top grade, rather lustrous and boldly struck (with sharp full knight’s-head details) on a smallish flan.
