C. Vibius Varus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (3.77 gm, 19mm). Rome mint. Laureate and bearded head of Hercules right / Minerva, helmeted and draped, standing right, holding spear in right hand and Victory in extended left; shield at side, C • VIBIVS downward to right, VARVS downward to left. Crawford 494/37; Sydenham 1139; Vibia 23. Nice VF.

C. Vibius Varus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (3.46 gm, 17mm). Rome mint. Bust of Minerva right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet and aegis / Hercules, naked, standing left, resting right hand on club set on ground and holding lion skin over left arm; C • VIBIVS downwards on right, VARVS downwards on left. Crawford 494/38; Sydenham 1140; Kestner 3748-9; Vibia 26. Roughness, few, scratches, banker’s mark on obverse, gF.

L. Mussidius Longus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (3.57 gm, 17mm). Rome mint. Facing bust of Sol, radiate and draped / Platform inscribed CLOACIN on which there are two statues of Venus Cloacina; L. MVSSIDIVS LONGVS above. Crawford 494/43b; Sydenham 1094a; Mussidia 7a. Rough gF.

C. Caesar Octavian & Marc Antony. 39 BC. AR Quinarius (1.57gm,15mm). Mint moving with Octavian. III·VIR· – R·P·C, diademed head of Concordia to right / M·ANTON·C·CAESAR, two hands clasped around caduceus. Crawford 529/4b; Sydenham 1195. Banker’s marks on obverse, aVF.

Augustus and Agrippa. 27 BC-14 AD. Gaul, Nemausus. Halved Æ As (6.22 gm, 15.6mm). Circa 9-3 BC. Heads of Agrippa and Augustus back to back, that of Agrippa wearing combined rostral crown and laurel wreath, that of Augustus wearing oak wreath / Crocodile chained to palm branch, wreath tied to palm. RIC 158; RPC I 524. Flan cut in half, some roughness, otherwise VF.

Augustus. 27 BC-14 AD. AR Denarius (3.50 gm, 19.2mm). Lugdunum mint. Struck 2 BC-14 AD. CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, laureate head right / C L CAESARES in exergue, AVGVS[TI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT], Gaius and Lucius Caesars standing facing, resting hands on clipei between them; spears behind; simpulum facing right and lituus facing left in field above. RIC 207; BMCRE 519; BN 1656; RSC 43. Reverse a bit off-centre, VF.

Tiberius. 14-37 AD. AR Denarius (3.66 gm, 19.6mm). Lugdunum mint. TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, laureate head right / PONTIF MAXIM, Livia (as Pax) seated right on chair, feet on footstool, holding sceptre and olive branch; ornate chair legs. RIC 30; BN 34; RSC 16a. Nicely toned, VF.

Gaius (Caligula). 37-41 AD. Æ As (10.95 gm, 29mm). Rome mint. Struck 37-38 AD. C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT, bare head left / VESTA / S - C,  Vesta seated left, holding patera and sceptre. RIC 38; BMCRE 46; Cohen 27. gF.

Nero. 54-68 AD. AR Tetradrachm (14,31 gm, 25.8mm). Syria, Antioch mint. Dated RY 10 (63/64 AD). NEPΩN KAIΣAP ΣEBAΣTOΣ, laureate head to right / ETOYΣ BIP I, eagle on thunderbolt standing right; to right, palm branch and dot. RPC I 4190. Surfaces a bit rough, aVF.
