Standing figure Kuvera in dhoti garment, holding in front of the face two semicircles one within the other Adahanda (Crescent moon) / Nagari Legend: Nandaki, under full-blown Lotus. AR Sinhala Fanam (0.38 gm). Robert Knox who was kept prisoner on Sri Lanka between 1659-1679 wrote about the contemporary coinage of the Rajas of Kandy in Historical Relation of Ceylon (Pt. III, Chap VIII) “The third sort of money is the King’s proper Coin. For none upon the pain of Death may coin it. It is called a Ponnam. It is as small as a Spangle: Seventy-five make a piece of Eight, or a Spanish Dollar.” VF.
