Java. 2 Sen from the first Showa series, General Nogi, in pair on Dutch East Indies military fieldpost card, written (typewriter, message concerns family and acquaintances matters) on 16-7-2603 (place blackened by the censor), from Mohammad Said to H. Anwarbarak, stamps cancelled Soerabaja 11.8.03, and locally sent. Written in red pencil ‘Keliroe nama / Kembali’ (= wrong name / return), thus returned to sender in Soerabaja 12.8.03. Very rare usage of Japanese stamps, not available in post offices, however allowed for franking. Illustrated in DN catalogue on p.74. Exhibition item!
