Sumatra. Lampong. 5 Cent Numeral with Lampong overprint 611z-42 on cover from Tandjong-/Karang 4.11.2 via Palembang 6.11.2 to Kajoeagoeng 7.11.2. Unlisted censor label ´DIBOEKA OLEH PEMERINTAH NIPPON´ between red Japanese flag symbols (´Opened by Japanese government authorities´). For a short period between Oct 1942 and Jan 1943 the postal tariffs in South Sumatra were reduced, and the rate for letter sheets, imprinted envelopes and letters was only 5 cent. Covers with this 5 cent rate are extremely rare, a few are known to Syonan (Singapore), this item is the only one recorded from within Sumatra

Special colourful postcard from the ´Javanen-Kolonie´, a Javanese agricultural settlement in South Sumatra, printed before the war by Kolff, but in this case used during the Japanese occupation at Metro, censored and cancelled by the Japanese Military Police Kempeitai on 18.3.14 at Telokbetong, sent to Klakah on Java (vNV.230, described and illustrated on p.97). Celebes. South. TANETTE delivery house pmk on 3½c postcard Bu.249b (4 characters 30 mm), written on 25 June ´02 and in English (still allowed), sent to Makasser. Slightly cancelled though the only one recorded (vNV.071, RRR)

Celebes. North. Cover from Banggai, an island southeast of Loewoek, with on the back written ´franco f 0,05 soedah dibajar´ (5 cent postage already paid) and ´Soedah di censuur oleh Padoeka Radja Banggai´ (already censored by his highness the Radja of Banggai) with autograph. The letter has been sent to Manado and on the front a violet strike of the Japanese Manado cancel (vNV.310) and a blue strike Menado 18.11.42 (vNV.050). An absolutely unique postal document of very rare origin. Exhibition item of great postal historian value!

Borneo. South and East. 35 Cent van Konijnenburg no. 49 without overprint cancelled Martapoera in black with written date in blue 17 5.. (vNV type 033) which could be in 1942 but also in 1946 after the occupation. Not recorded before (see DN catalogue page 337)

Borneo. South and East. Hand-made official cover with red oval sender´s cachet ´Kepala Distrik Tandjoeng´ (Head of the Tandjoeng District) showing a provisional cancel ´TGN´ of Tandjoeng Kandangan with date 23 JULI 1942 to Poeroek Tjahoe. It is an early cover when there were not yet stamps and postmarks available, because like many post offices in the region all postmarks were destroyed during the retreat of the Dutch (vNV.341, described and illustrated on p. 137). The only one recorded, unique!
