Unlisted censor label ´DIBOEKA OLEH PEMERINTAH NIPPON´ between red Japanese flag symbols (´Opened by Japanese government authorities´). For a short period between Oct 1942 and Jan 1943 the postal tariffs in South Sumatra were reduced, and the rate for letter sheets, imprinted envelopes and letters was only 5 cent. Covers with this 5 cent rate are extremely rare, a few are known to Syonan (Singapore), this item is the only one recorded from within Sumatra
