Lesser Soenda Islands. Bali. Postage paid mark in frame ´Bea soedah/Bajar´ with written ´10c´ on company cover from Denpasar 21.4.43.15. (faint lilac strike of the cds) to Soerabaja. The censor mark and postage paid mark were cancelled by using the same ink pad. Rare cover and the first cover known from Bali during the Japanese occupation, postage stamps were still not available. Moluccas. 2 Cent Kreisler and 2x 4 cent Dancer with red Bali anchor overprint nos. 531r-16b 531r-69 on complete money order Bu.JF42 (water stain) tied by Piroe Teikoku Seifu postmark, for a transfer of 10 guilders from Piroe 19.9.5 via Amboina with Japanese TMO cancel 20.2.6, to Temanggoeng 26.3.05 on the island of Java 26.3.05. Rare postal item!

General. 40 Cent definitive issue with machine overprint REPOEBLIK/INDONESIA with distance between lower line and REPOEBLIK 2.8 instead of 1.4 mm KPI.J14b, showing variety ´Broken R of REPOEBLIK´, unused (together with normal stamp)

TAMANAN. Envelope bearing 2½ cent Dancer in strip of 3 and 1 single and 7½ cent Dancer in strip of 4 (glue used for sticking) making up the rate for a registered letter, sent from TAMANAN 21.9.05 to the International Red Cross Committee in the Dago Hospital in Bandoeng 24.9.05. A sub-post office Tamanan in the Revolution period is not recorded so far, not listed in Bulterman nor in Van Nieuwkerk/Vosse 1942-1949. In the list of post offices openend on 1 Dec 1944 Tamanan is not mentioned, thus must have opened between 1 Dec 1944 and 21 Sep 1945. The (official) Indonesian Postal Services opened on 27 Sep 1945. Despite the fact that the envelope is somewhat roughly opened it is wonderfully franked and the only cover recorded from Tamanan, besides, in a tumultuous period, thus fits very well into your Revolution exhibition collection!

2 and 3 cent Dancer with machine overprint Repoeblik/Indonesia on privately printed postcard (´5 Basic Guidelines of our Country´) written on 6-4-1946 by a prisoner in Kamp C, Djombang (is in the sugar factory Tjeweng), via the Indonesian and Netherlands Indies Red Crosses from Djakarta 30.4.46 to Soerabaja 13.6.46. Historical postcard which fits very well into POW & Civilian Internees, Red Cross and Revolution collections!
