Palembang. 10 Cent van Konijnenburg with blue signet ring overprint IPL of postmaster Inaray Paul Lengkong of Palembang no. 522b-43bk, two copies and 10 cent definitive issue on a cover which also shows a violet small overprint IPL in frame (type 571), sent by postmaster Lengkong himself, registered from Palembang 18.2.1. (censored before sticking the registration label on the envelope), via Syonan 2603.12.10 to Shiga in Japan. Very rare usage on cover, only four covers are known. See also DN catalogue, p.247. Sumatra. Palembang. 5 Cent Dancer with violet small overprint IPL in frame no. 571v-70 from Pladjoe 26.11.02 via Palembang (censored, Vr.102b) to the Singer Sewing headquarters at Medan, received 7 Dec 02. Also lilac propaganda cachet 'Belilah Perangko DAI NIPPON' (= buy Japanese stamps), in all probability used at the Medan post office in December 1942 (see vNV.470, p.195). Remarkable is the 5 cent franking, which was the letter rate in South Sumatra from early October tot 31 December 1942. Scarce franking!

J39, three copies to make up the rate of 10 cent on this letter from Palembang 19.5.31 to Hiroshima, Japan (probably received 2604 30/5 according to a pen note on the back), Censor mark and label, similar to Bu.JCS.8. The 1 sen Japanese stamp is rare on cover! See: MTC, p.79

Sumatra. Palembang. 20 Cent in pair en 1 roepiah definitive issue on money order Bu.JF3 to transfer 400 roepiah from Soengeigerong 20.4.28 (note in red ink on bottom left side) via Tandjongkarang 7.5.4 to Metro 20.5.5. The stamps are tied by large circular Palembang field post cancel (vNV.232)

Sumatra. Lampong. Revaluation. 3½ Cent postcard type Kreisler with black Dai Ni Hon Yuken two-line overprint and violet small 2- overprint, bearing 2 cent Kreisler with black Dai Ni Hon Yuken two-line overprint, written at the agricultural colony for 'non-cooperative and/or hostile indo-europeans' at Giesting on 5-2-2603, via Talangpadang 27.2.3 to Bandoeng. During January 1943 the rates were increased to 3½ cent. Therefore a 2 cent stamp was affixed because no ½ or 1½ cent stamps were available. Censored at Tandjongkarang, Bu.JC19c. A very rare postcard in excellent condition!

Sumatra. Lampong. 7½ Cent letter sheet with violet one-line overprint Dai Ni Hon Yuken (thus without Lampong) from Telokbetong 18.8.15 (vNV.050) to Soerabaja. Extremely rare letter sheet, the only copy known!

Sumatra. Lampong. 10 Cent van Konijnenburg with black Dai Ni Hon Yuken two-line overprint and small orange disk no. 621o/610-43II on cover, sent by Taiji Izumi from Palembang 16.2.3 to his family in Kobe, Japan. Censored at Palembang with black large Ken-etse-zumi mark. Probably Izumi got this stamp in Lampong and must have taken it to Palembang. Extremely rare usage of this stamp from Lampong in Palembang and sent to Japan!

Revaluation. 7½ Cent letter sheet with red overprint Gunseibu In, large violet 5, violet framed HARGA 8 sen (= price 8 sen which means the rate is 8 sen) Bu.52 and a 2 cent Kreisler with violet overprint Gunseibu In no. 711v-16b affixed, from Blinjoe 20.3.5 (vNV.050) to Palembang. The postage rate of letter sheets was first changed from 7½ to 5 cent, then revised to 8 cent, and finally to 10 cent, hence the 2 cent added to make up the rate of 10 cent. Extremely rare letter sheet, to our knowledge the only one known!

Censor label similar to Bu.JCS8. A very rare single franking of this stamp!! Letter rate 30 cent + registration fee 20 cent
