Postcard used on Java. 2 Sen Kusunoki Red Warrior postcard with 3½ overprint Bu.250 written at Bandjermasin, not cancelled on Borneo but in the city of destination, Soerabaja 20.7.03. The censor mark, in violet, is a common type used on Java Bu.JC36 with written date 20/7 03. It was faster to ask a friend going to Java to mail the card there, then to send it through the southeast Borneo postal service!

Postcard used on Java. 3½ Cent General issue for the Naval area written at Bandjermasin (family affairs), not cancelled on Borneo but in Soerabaja 30.9.03, from there sent to the nearby Bangil. The censor mark, in violet, is a common type used on Java Bu.JC36. The addressee Kaspoelanwar, child of the sender, cancelled 3 times his personal chop in red on the front. It was faster to ask a friend going to Java to mail the card there, then to send it through the southeast Borneo postal service!

South and East Borneo. 10 Sen emergency issue for Bandjermasin with imperforated upper side no. 02 on home-made envelope from Rantau (date not written in the postmark) to a judge in Barabai, with in black two-line censor mark DIPERIKSA / RANTAU. On the reverse a message in ink is made showing two dates, 25-2-05 and 11-4-05 (date of dispatch?). Very rare and interesting cover in several respects! See: MTC, p.100

Cover from Kotabaroe-/Poeloelaoet 13.6.42 to Bandjermasin 16.6.42, and because suitable postage stamps were not available yet the post office counter clerk wrote 'Bea bajar f 0,10' with his signature (bu.JB18). Some time later an emergency prepaid franking mark was temporarely used. Very rare!

Written in red ink 'betoel f 5' + initials, meaning that the amount is indeed 5 roepiah. Very rare franking!

West Borneo. 1 Gulden van Konijnenburg without overprint no. 54g (very rare!) and 25 cent Kreisler with black small anchor overprint no. 421z-28b in pair together on m.o. fragment cancelled Pontianak 23.11.4 (backstamped Ngabang 10.12.5 and 12.12.5, vNV.012). Also Japanese stamp of 10 sen from the 2nd Showa series J47 in vertical pair, cancelled Sanggau 29.2.4. Although this pair is illustrated in several literature, this happens to be a back-dated forgery made after the war in Osaka. Nevertheless useful for reference (information added to the lot)
