GREAT BRITAIN. FIRST WORLD WAR, envelope including letter written by R. Koch from 'Place of Internment, Reading (printed paper) on 18th Sep 1917, posted from London to The Hague, received 27th Dec 1917, with on the front of the envelope a faint strike of the oval double frame handstamp 'WAR OFFICE / postal censor' in red, Graham Mark Type HS2. According to Graham he has seen just one example. Interesting, detailed information added to the lot. Ex Jobbins

Some 50 postal items from the British First Royal Navy Brigade, interned in Groningen (North Netherlands) and other places, and from the British Royal Marines, showing an interesting selection of POW cards, postmarks and Portvrij = Postage Free cachets for foreign POW in the Netherlands, picture postcards and a set of copies, all very well documented written-up on album leaves. Very interesting lot!

GREAT BRITAIN. FIRST WORLD WAR, Thomas Cook service. Envelope including letter written in German language on 19th Dec 1917 in Oberhof i. Thür (Germany) to Burgess Hill, forwarded to London, censored on arrival, processed by Thomas Cook on 8th Jan 1918, the London postmark is the same date. The 1d adhesive has the Thomas Cook perfin, backstamped the Thomas Cook office cachet in purple. Ex Jobbins
