Militaria. Army-Bag. Complete, zeer frisse brief (2 vellen papier met watermerk) geschreven te Schagen op 28-9-1799 naar een luitenant-kolonel van de Royal Artillery te Woolwich in Kent, met op de vz. een mooie afdruk van het ronde stempel ARMY-BAG met daarboven een kroon (PEP2.M245), gebruikt in het Ship-Letter-Office te Londen, port 1/6 (tarief voor een brief van de 3e gew. klasse), met op de az. een zwart en rood aankomststempel van 9-10-1799. Zeer zeldzame brief met interessante tekst van een Britse militair in Noord-Holland, waarvan slechts enkele exemplaren bewaard zijn gebleven. Crown/ARMY-BAG circular cachet, cancelled at the London Ship Letter Office, on complete, fresh letter written at Schagen, a Dutch small city south of Den Helder, written op 28 Sep 1799 (interesting text) and sent to a lieutenant colonel of the Royal Artillery at Woolwich, Kent. Very rare and only a few covers with Army-Bag cachets are recorded. Exhibition piece!
